PASS (Part Automated Scanning System) is a fully automated 3D color scanning system that captures objects up to 16 inches cubed in about two minutes per item. A tower structure housing 16 high-resolution DSLR cameras, integrated lights, a custom turntable and a built-in computer controller handles the entire scanning process automatically, with no part flipping, no manual repositioning and no specialist operator required. Accuracy reaches as low as plus or minus 10 microns, and post-processing runs unattended in the background in roughly 7 minutes, outputting an OBJ mesh file, JPG texture file and a flat-file metadata table with customizable fields to fit any inventory or cataloging workflow.
